EnGLisH iS a cRazY LaNgUage.... :-)

Lets face it-English is a crazy language.
We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing ring are square and guinea pig is neither from guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write but finger don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? ahaks!
one goose two geese. One moose, two meese? adoii!!
Doesn't it seem crazy that you make amends but not one amend, that you comb annals of history but not a single annal?
If you have a bunch of odds and end and get rid of all but one of them.
What do you call it?
If vegetarians eat vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? haha
If you wrote a letter, perhaps you bote your tongue?
Sometimes I think all English speaker should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.
In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?
Ship by truck and send cargo by ship?
Have you noticed that we talk about certain things only when they are absent? Have you ever seen a horseful carriage or a strapful gown?
Met a sung hero or experienced requited love?
English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which of course, isn't a race at all...ha..)
That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.
And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it, but when I wind up this essay, I end it.......
ahaks! Ahaks! penin pale...

~The boast of BUSY~

Some people like busyness so much that even when they are offered viable alternatives to it, they reject it..

Signs of overbusyness (of coz not me la ahaks!)
  • Bring work home almost everyday
  • Have uncomfortable feelin's about strong busy focus
  • At  work, experience frustration 'bout never seeming to get caugt up
  • Often feeling best when busy, whether it's at work or at home
  • Call into work at least twice while away on vacation (not me too haha!)
  • Postponed or changed vacation dates bcoz of works matter
  • Been quietly harbouring a desire to do less and get off the treadmill :-)                                       Feel guilty when leave work on time..haaa....

Recently Read

Recently I finished the novel Brooklyn by Colm Tobin.I guess Im a little behind in "finding" this particular author, but his work was intoxicatingly simple and lovely so I look forward to delving into his other book.

This was a relatively short read on a singular topic..a young girl leaving her home in Ireland for a new life in America right after the  2nd world war. What is incredible is the manner in which her tale unfolds, and how she develops into an adult in many ways as the transition occurs, each character in the life of Eilin, the young girl (we never do find out her age)plays many roles in her development..from her first real boss at an upscale foodshop in her hometown to the priest who paves the way to the United State and onto the house mother of her new home in New York City.

Eilin never asks for any change; the store manager tells her she will start work on Monday, the priest says her ship departs in two months, and the land lady informs her that her belongings will be moved from one room to another, as she grows acclimated to life in Brooklyn, her Irish past seems something of a dream. Then of  course, she receives news in the email and is forced to use the voice (and the decision making ability)she slowly realizing lives deep with herself.

This book was delightfully understated and poignant. This child didn't look for a dream life in the land of the freeand yet as she made her way through the freezing streets of the city, she managed to find it.
I'll have to get the other book....
